Reactive Power Compensation & Active Harmonic Filtering Project for New Energy Technology Enterprise
Project Overview：
This Ningxia-based new energy enterprise focuses on industrial tail gas bio-fermentation and low-carbon production. Its workshop is equipped with numerous nonlinear loads such as variable-frequency motors and water pumps, which generate severe harmonics and excessive reactive power loss and degrade power quality. To stabilize power supply and guarantee stable production, the enterprise upgraded its power system with 10kV and low-voltage reactive power compensation devices as well as active harmonic filters.
Solution
For the power distribution system, the original cabinet, main circuit breaker, sampling current transformer, compensation controller and switching switches are retained. A complete set of passive filtering and compensation components with a total capacity of 300kvar, including filter reactors and filter capacitors, is installed. The renovated system realizes simultaneous reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression to optimize power quality.
Application Effect
After on-site installation and commissioning, the equipment operates stably with the real-time system power factor stabilized above 0.96. The active power output of the transformer and the overall system power factor are effectively improved. Meanwhile, the 5th and 7th harmonic currents are significantly filtered out, thoroughly solving the on-site power quality problems and fully meeting the customer’s operational requirements.
