The JL-BAM series high-voltage shunt capacitor consists of a tank and an internal element assembly. It is designed for use in 50Hz AC power systems. These capacitors primarily serve to improve grid power factor, reduce line losses, enhance voltage quality, and maximize the efficiency of power generation and supply equipment.

① Overvoltage Withstand Capability: Capable of withstanding power-frequency steady-state overvoltages and transient overvoltages. It withstands various levels of power-frequency steady-state overvoltage (e.g., 1.10Un for 8 hours per 24-hour period, 1.15Un for 30 minutes per 24-hour period) and transient overvoltages with a first peak not exceeding 2.2Un and a duration of half a cycle.
② Overcurrent Withstand Capability: Permitted to operate under a steady-state overcurrent with an RMS value of 1.3In; when the capacitance is at its maximum positive deviation, the permissible overcurrent reaches 1.43In.
③ Capacitance Stability: The difference between the measured capacitance and the rated value falls within the range of -5% to +10% of the rated value; for three-phase capacitors, the ratio of the maximum to minimum capacitance between any two line terminals does not exceed 1.06.
④ Automatic Discharge Function: Equipped with internal discharge resistors, the capacitor can reduce its voltage from the peak of the rated voltage to below 75V within 10 minutes of disconnection from the power supply.
⑤ Internal Fuse Protection: Each element inside the capacitor is connected in series with a fuse; in the event of element breakdown, the fuse blows rapidly to isolate the faulty element, allowing the capacitor to continue operation.
| Voltage Parameters | The inter‑electrode insulation can withstand a power‑frequency AC voltage of Ut(~) = 2.15Un or a DC voltage of Ut(-) = 4.3Un for 10 seconds; regarding the insulation level between terminals and the enclosure, the 1‑minute power‑frequency test voltage ranges from 25 kV to 65 kV, and the peak lightning impulse test voltage ranges from 40 kV to 120 kV, depending on the rated voltage. |
| Loss Tangent (tan δ) | At rated power frequency voltage and a temperature of 20°C, tan δ ≤ 0.0005; for capacitors equipped with internal discharge resistors or fuses, the permissible value of the loss tangent is increased by 0.0001. |
| Terminal Stud Torque | For M12 threaded studs, the tightening torque ranges from a minimum of 7.5 N·m to a maximum of 15 N·m; for M16 threaded studs, the range is 15.0 N·m to 30 N·m. |
Temperature and Altitude: The ambient temperature range is -25°C to +45°C for BFM-type capacitors and -40°C to +45°C for BAM-type capacitors; the altitude must not exceed 1,000 meters.
